About Dino
From Dreams to Reality:
The Culinary Journey of an Aspiring Entrepreneur
In 2001, Dino embarked on a journey in search of new opportunities, setting sail for the United States. Armed only with determination, he arrived in a land he didn’t know, speaking a language he didn’t understand. His first job was washing dishes at a restaurant, which became the stepping stone he needed. From there, he quickly advanced to a busboy and continued to climb the ranks to higher management positions. Through hard work, he gained invaluable experience, saved every penny, and built strong connections with people from all walks of life.
Finally, in October 2010, after four years of meticulous planning, Dino opened Anatolian Kitchen in Palo Alto. “We hit the ground running, seamlessly operating from day one and attracting a steady stream of customers with our menu and community support,” he recalls vividly.
However, Dino was just getting started. In 2012, he opened his second restaurant, First Crush Restaurant and Bar, in Union Square, San Francisco, offering French-Californian cuisine.
In 2015, after becoming a naturalized citizen, Dino and his wife realized the California dream of buying their first home. Now a U.S. citizen and a homeowner, Dino was ready for more.
Buoyed by success, he set his sights on growth and acquired Nemea Greek Taverna in downtown San Jose in 2018. Despite initial success, tragedy struck when Nemea fell victim to a fire on Mother’s Day in 2021.
Undeterred, Dino took over Naschmarkt Restaurant in Campbell in 2019, transforming it into a thriving success and making it one of the most popular restaurants in Campbell. By 2022-23, he expanded Naschmarkt to a second location in Palo Alto and relocated Anatolian Kitchen to a prime spot on the main thoroughfare.
In 2024, Dino was drawn to a promising location in Los Altos, leading to the birth of Barbayani Taverna. With its exquisite ambiance, expansive patio, and delectable Greek cuisine, Barbayani Taverna quickly earned glowing reviews.
Currently, Dino is working on opening two new locations in Portola Valley and Sunnyvale, scheduled to debut in September 2024 and mid-2025, respectively. As he looks to the future, his dreams continue to drive him forward. Despite the inevitable challenges life brings, his passion remains unwavering, and he eagerly anticipates what lies ahead.
